Where CMC Adventure is coming from
CMC Adventure is a Christian-run outdoor education centre situated within the Snowdonia National Park, set against the stunning backdrop of the Rhinog mountain range. The Centre is on a tidal estuary, enabling water-based activities to take place onsite and we are within walking distance of the beach and the village of Llanbedr. We also have another site less than a mile from the Harbour which is set in 12 acres of woodland, and we are able to use some spectacular local crags, mountains and the Cwm Nantcol gorge for our land-based activities.
The centre was formed in 1966 to help young people and adults to "develop their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities as individuals and members of society". It is administered by a Registered Charity (No. 1062075) and as a non-denominational Christian Company (No. 3324934 - England and Wales). Our purpose is to provide quality courses in outdoor activities and field studies for all ages and abilities within a framework of traditional Christian values and standards. Many people who visit the centre are exposed to a challenging, demanding and beautiful environment. Many of the activities are not without some element of perceived danger, and each person responds to these situations in their own unique way. For many, this experience provides an opportunity for each individual to re-examine where their life is heading and to reappraise their role in the world today.
All staff are committed Christians and seek to live their lives in accordance with Biblical principles however, there is no pressure at all on our guests to accept the Christian viewpoint. We welcome groups and individuals of any faith or none.
Grace is usually said before breakfast and evening meal. If the group leader wishes, we can offer a 'thought for the day' after breakfast and/or a simple 'epilogue' with evening drinks. This might just be reflecting on the day's fun and achievements, or may take the form of drama, music, video or a short talk by a member of staff on his or her experience of being a Christian today. However, you are welcome to request that any Christian input is omitted if you prefer.
