Change a life this year - The ENABLE Bursary Fund!
The ENABLE Bursary Fund enables the Christian Mountain Centre (CMC Adventure) to offer subsidised places to those who would not otherwise be able to afford to experience the wonder and beauty of the countryside or the activities that CMC Adventure provides.
As a Christian organisation, we believe that everyone is created in God's image. We live in a world that is unjust and often life enriching opportunities are restricted to the fortunate and wealthy. At CMC Adventure, we believe that no young person or adult should be prevented from experiencing the opportunity to challenge themselves, explore the beauty of creation and consider who God is and what He means to them! As part of the work of CMC Adventure, we also provide life-affirming, challenging outdoor education courses and activities which are essential to the growth of a whole person, regardless of their perceived ability. This is not cheap and for the sake of safety, quality and care; we refuse to cut corners. Many of our guests cannot afford to pay fully, or in part, for this incredible opportunity. Our question is - should only the comparatively fortunate and wealthy have access to CMC Adventure and the outdoors? Of course not! Please will you consider financially supporting us?
CMC Adventure offers discounted rates for groups and individuals who would not otherwise be able to come to the Centre so that no-one loses the opportunity to experience the Centre and the area around it due to financial hardship alone. By supporting the ENABLE Bursary Fund, you will help us to continue doing this whilst also being able to make the necessary improvements to the Centre buildings and maintain the high standards of comfort and safety that our guests deserve.
A monthly gift of any amount by direct debit will go entirely to supporting the aims of this Bursary, as outlined below:
- To provide financial help to people who would not otherwise be able to come to CMC Adventure
- To provide continuing support for all those who benefit from current subsidies
- To challenge, support and encourage growth in a stimulating and safe outdoor environment, which would otherwise be unavailable
- To campaign for and promote the benefits of outdoor education for life skills and character development
- To continue to support and develop young people wishing to pursue a career in the outdoors through our Volunteer Trainee programmes
Please also consider becoming a 'Friend of CMC Adventure'. As a 'Friend', you will receive updates on the Centres and what we're doing to help our guests using the funds raised by ENABLE.
Here are just a few testimonials to the work we do here at CMC Adventure...
One youth group leader had this to say following their latest visit:
"What a weekend!
It is hard to put into words what I want to say really. CMC have for about 10 years had an impact on me, youth leaders and most importantly young people that has been transformational.
When I visit now it feels like coming home – this is the case for our young people too. I genuinely believe that the presence of God can be felt as soon as a group arrives. This is through the welcome of your staff, the food, the setting and then throughout the stay from the activities, the encouragement and the fun and laughter. CMC is a unique and special place where young people and adults encounter God in a powerful way. I have had so much feedback over the years from parents of participants and it always comes down to the same thing – you help young people be the people God created them to be. We all delight in this.
So, thank you. Here’s to the next 10 years!"
A father who brought his daughter for a day of activities said:
"I just wanted to take the time to express my thanks to your organisation and especially to your Instructor who looked after us both magnificently throughout the day. Both my daughter and I were quickly put at ease with the manner in which your Instructor passed on her instructions / guidance, with this approach we found the learning fun and very easy to follow.
We both took new skills away with us and my daughter is now seriously considering becoming a outdoor activity instructor as she found it totally inspirational, I have suggested it may have been seeing the dolphins, but she is steadfast that was just part of the day!
Please share the email with your Instructor as we both wanted her to understand our gratitude, I hope we can find time next year to come back and find other challenges for us both."
This was the feedback from a teacher who brought her school to us for the first time this year:
"Thank you for such a wonderful residential. The children were thrilled with the activities when we came back!"
The leader of a group of disabled adults wrote to us to say:
"I would like to thank you on behalf of the group we brought this year - we had a wonderful stay and everyone had a great time as always.
The staff team were great and made us feel very welcome and safe, and all the group commented on how lovely and helpful they were.
We look forward to seeing you again in two years' time!"
