What insurance do you have?
CMC Adventure has public liability and employers insurance which covers events where CMC is liable. It is strongly recommended that each visitor takes out their own personal holiday insurance which covers outdoor activities and includes cancellation, injury and theft of belongings. The centre can provide details on request.

My child will be attending one of the individuals youth courses, how are they cared for outside CMC activity sessions?
House Parents are designated during the course, who will be available to the children at all times outside CMC activity sessions.

Are you able to cater for my child’s dietary requirements?
Yes.  Please ensure that you complete the medical form accurately with this information.  You will be provided with a medical form from your Group Leader or if your child is attending an individuals course, you will receive one directly from our office.  If the dietary requirements are complicated and you would rather speak to someone, please ask to speak to our House Manager.

Does my child need to be able to swim in order to take part in water sports?
Your child does not need to be able to swim, but they do need to be happy to be in deep water wearing a buoyancy aid. In most circumstances, the willingness to try the activity wearing a personal flotation device is sufficient.

Are there any CMC staff on duty at night?
There is always a member of CMC staff who is a qualified First Aider on site at night.  We provide group leaders with a mobile contact number for a member of the senior staff team for out of hours problems or emergencies.

Are outdoor activities solely confined to the summer months?
Some activities may be restricted or cancelled if the weather conditions are deemed to be dangerous.  However, CMC is always able to provide a full programme of activities throughout the year and whatever the weather.

What size are the activity groups?
Groups are between 8 and 12 students. In the case of technical and specialist courses the group sizes are normally smaller.

Can I contact my child during their stay?
Yes, there is a payphone in the lobby at both Pensarn Harbour and Bryn-y-Moel which is accessible to all residents. Tel 01341 241691 for Pensarn and 01341 241470 for Bryn-y-Moel. In an emergency, messages can be left on the office number 01341 241646.  However, should your child be coming with a school or youth group, we recommend you contact the staff bringing the children to check what their standpoint is on this.

What is the minimum age that children can take part in activities?
Eight years old without their parents. Younger children can experience some of the activities provided a parent/guardian is present at all times and our safety equipment fits.

What medical or physical conditions would exclude participation in activities?
In most cases, activities can be adapted for any participants although the instructors do need to know of any medical conditions. For further information, or to discuss any special needs, please contact the centre.

What happens in the evenings?
The group leaders are responsible for their group in the evenings. A member of CMC staff will be working until 10.30pm each evening and can make suggestions on what to do, help with activities, provide first aid cover and generally be around to sort out any equipment or problems. Possible activities include a campfire on the beach or in our round house, indoor games, a wide game, a talent show or a night walk.

Tuck Shop
We do have a small tuck shop available at both Bryn-y-Moel and Pensarn Harbour.  Please check with your group leader whether or not they shall be requesting this to be opened.  If they do, we suggest you send your child with a small amount of pocket money.
