RYA Powerboat Courses

CMC Adventure is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and can run the following RYA Powerboat Courses:

RYA Powerboat Level 2

This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). The aim is to teach boat handling and seamanship skills providing anyone wishing to drive a powerboat the training needed to do it safely and skilfully. The course covers skills including low-speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, collision regulations, launching and recovering, securing to a buoy and anchoring.

On successful completion of the course, drivers should be self-sufficient in the right conditions, aware of their own limitations and those of the craft.

RYA Safety Boat

This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing training activities. The course covers rescue techniques used in powerboats for other water users.

Powerboat Level 2 is a prerequisite for this course.
