Being a Trainee Instructor was a fantastic way to spend two years. I loved living in a beautiful part of Wales where the sea and mountains were my back garden. The training scheme offers a natural progression from developing personal skills, to assisting other instructors and leading your own sessions. I found that this meant once I had gained the relevant instructing qualifications I had already gained experience and the soft skills needed to instruct to a higher standard.

Trainee Instructor

'Want to spend a year or two mostly cold, wet and nursing aching muscles?
No, I didn't either.
Want to end up a Mountain Leader, Climbing Instructor, Watersports Coach and more?
Yes, I sure did.
If you’re willing to put in the time and effort this Trainee program provides an exceptional introduction to becoming a fully-fledged outdoor instructor. There's also the lifelong friends you make, skills you learn, and some sunny days. Oh, and did I mention...you get an endless supply of cakes and flapjack to get you through those cold and wet days? The outdoors really does become your office.'
