Outdoor Safety and Risk Management at CMC Adventure
CMC Adventure has been operating now for over 50 years and has an excellent safety record. The CMC is an Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority approved centre (licence number L5103 / R0109) and has a stringent process of staff training and assessment in place.
All group leaders are welcome to have copies of our risk assessments, operating procedures and staff qualifications. Please contact the CMC Adventure office and we can send you them all on a USB stick or e-mail you the ones which are relevant to you. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that our activities are as safe as possible, the very nature of outdoor activities is that there is some inherent risk.
Over the years both staff and guests have sustained various bumps and bruises, and the odd broken ankle or wrist is not unheard of. This said, all our staff are appropriately qualified and each member of staff holds a first aid certificate; our core staff are trained to an advanced level in first aid. In addition to this, the instructors hold the relevant safety and life-saving qualifications for the activities they lead. All of our outdoor staff are experienced practitioners and have gained much experience in the activities we offer. Our senior outdoor staff are extremely experienced, having gained outdoor experience and qualifications both here in the UK and abroad.
CMC Adventure is also a Mountain Leader Training England approved training centre and a British Canoe Union / Welsh Canoe Association approved training centre and a Royal Yacht Association recognised training centre. CMC Adventure is also a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning, we pride ourselves on the highest standards of outdoor education and training.
