CMC Adventure is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and can run the following sailing courses:
RYA Level 1 Start Sailing
This course provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. Skills include how to sail in all directions and an awareness of launching and recovering so that by the end of the course, you know enough to get yourself afloat and sailing in light winds under supervision.
RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
Level 2 basic skills sets out the foundations of sailing for you. The successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor on board in light winds. It will be assumed that every student starting this course has already mastered the practical skills and absorbed the background knowledge required for start sailing level 1.
RYA Level 3 better Sailing
This improver course seeks to bridge the gap between Level 1 and 2 and the next set of advanced modules available in the National Sailing Scheme. Time is spent consolidating level 1 and 2 skills, as well as introducing new skills from the advanced modules. Better sailing is for those wishing to build sailing confidence, develop good technique and be able to enjoy more independent sailing.
RYA Seamanship Skills
This course works on handling a boat in all circumstance and solving problems afloat. Specific skills include launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard and anchoring. The successful sailor will be capable of manoeuvring a dinghy/keelboat/multihull in a seamanlike manner and making seamanship decisions in moderate conditions. The emphasis is on increasing the self-reliance and decision making of the sailor.
RYA Sailing with Spinnakers
Everything you need to know about sailing with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers. Specific skills include how to rig the boat, gybe and recover one type of spinnaker, either conventional or asymmetric and how to sail the best possible course downwind.
Our fleet includes Fusion Sailboats, Toppers, Laser Bahia, Laser Funboats, Dart 16’s. We can run all of the above courses on either monohull dinghies or Dart 16 catamarans.
