The west coast of the UK offers some of the best sea kayaking locations in the world! The beautiful, rugged coastlines are an adventure playground just waiting to be explored and enjoyed. But the constantly changing sea environment is not to be underestimated, and knowledge is required to stay safe out there. The Sea Kayak Award introduces the knowledge and skills you need to begin exploring our stunning coastlines. As the first award in a series of 3 Personal Performance Awards for sea kayaking, the Sea Kayak Award covers the basics to give you the confidence you need to become a more independent sea paddler.
The award covers boat handling skills, sea safety, basic tidal planning, group awareness, and rescue skills giving you a greater awareness of sea conditions and how to go about paddling in them.
This is an opportunity for those wanting to develop boat handling ability and appropriate decision making skills for an enjoyable and safe day out on the sea.
Beginners are welcome!
All equipment including sea kayaks can be provided.
Course duration – 4 days.
